Legal Aid Center of Southern Nevada is a dynamic, progressive, non-profit law firm providing high-quality representation to the most underserved members of the Southern Nevada community.  During its 64 years of service, Legal Aid Center has protected and advanced the rights of survivors of domestic violence, tenants facing eviction and homelessness, adults with disabilities and the elderly facing abuse and exploitation, consumers victimized by fraudulent and deceptive business practices, children who have experienced abuse and neglect, and many others, giving them a voice in court and a chance to regain control over their lives.  Legal Aid Center is the most diverse law firm in Nevada staffed with compassionate and devoted employees who together create a collaborative and supportive work environment devoted to protecting the rights of its clients.  The Pro Bono Project coordinates private attorneys who generously volunteer to provide free legal assistance to individuals who cannot afford an attorney.

Position Overview

Under the supervision of the Pro Bono Director, The Pro Bono Marketing Coordinator will recruit new volunteers, promote & place pro bono cases, provide support and resources to volunteer attorneys, create & manage events and handle other administrative tasks and supports other team members. This position will be constantly communicating, in both verbal and written form, with a wide range of people of varying backgrounds.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Contribute to Legal aid Center’s overall pro bono legal services efforts.
  • Recruit pro bono attorneys, large law firms, and other licensed professionals to handle pro bono work.  
  • Prepare and draft required reports.
  • Responsible for recruiting volunteer attorneys to “Ask a Lawyer” events
  • Develop CLEs for pro bono attorneys, recruit attorneys to attend CLEs, submit accreditations for CLEs, coordinate and set up food for CLEs.
  • Handle the implementation, reporting and follow up for CLE trainings and community events such as the Pro Bono Luncheon.  Responsible for event logistics, including registration, presenters, publicity, staffing, technology, materials/handouts, and refreshments.
  • Gather program outcome, survey and other program related data for reports.
  • Assist with the development of legal resources and training materials to assist clients and attorney volunteers.
  • Support volunteer attorneys by providing information, responding to inquiries and conducting basic legal research where necessary.
  • Perform other work related duties as assigned by the Pro Bono Director.

Preferred Experience and Skills

  • Prefer a licensed attorney from any United State jurisdiction or JD
  • Proficiency and experience in computer technology, including Microsoft Office, Suite, Adobe, web-based and database functions.
  • Skilled with WordPress or other content software; graphic design experience is a plus.
  • Demonstrated commitment to public interest or pro bono work.
  • Excellent writing and oral communication skills.
  • Ability to lead and motivate; experience leading volunteers preferred.
  • Ability to organize, plan, prioritize, meet deadlines and work under pressure.
  • Takes pride in completing tasks accurately, timely and precisely.
  • Flexibility
  • Works well within a collaborative, team driven and goal based environment.
  • Engages in continuous learning to evolve personal skills.
  • Experience or background in marketing is a plus.
