Legal Aid Center of Southern Nevada, a non-profit, public interest law firm, is seeking an advocate to be part of a team dedicated to providing legal assistance to hotel, casino, and other workers as part of an innovative employee benefit program negotiated by the Culinary and Bartenders Unions and participating employers. Of special interest are advocates with prior experience in immigration, housing, or consumer law. As part of Legal Aid Center's program, this advocate will provide legal services to the workers and families who are the backbone of our community, hard-working people who might not otherwise be able to afford an attorney, to help safeguard their legal and economic wellbeing. The ideal candidates will be intelligent, energetic, and compassionate, will possess a passion for helping people, and will be able to thrive in a positive, client-focused, solution-oriented team atmosphere where Legal Aid Center's mission of preserving access to justice and providing quality legal services is always front and center.
Additional Qualities Desired
- Three years of experience as a paralegal, legal assistant, court clerk, or similar
- Comfortable with new technology and a working knowledge of Microsoft Word and Outlook
- Ability to multitask and work effectively with individuals from diverse economic, cultural, and social backgrounds under sometimes stressful circumstances
- Excellent customer service skills, interpersonal skills, attention to detail, and ability deal compassionately with individuals facing legal issues a must
- Bilingual preferred but not required
Legal Aid Center of Southern Nevada offers a benefit package, including 100% employer paid health, dental, vision, and life insurance for employees and their dependents, paid vacation/sick time, and a company-matched 403(b) plan.
Starting salary range is $39,000.00-$52,000.00 yearly dependent upon experience, with annual increases available. Our excellent benefits include 100% employer-paid health insurance for an employee, spouse/domestic partner, and dependents up to 26 years old. A 403(b) match dollar for dollar up to 5% of an employee's salary after 12 months of employment, 12 weeks paid parental leave after 12 months of employment, and a generous paid time off policy. Hours for the center are in-person Monday through Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
